This album—and Illmatic—were the only two rap albums I ever listened to until, like, three years ago. (I had a sheltered upbringing, shut up.) I used to listen to this at my construction job and I’d almost get killed all the time because I was listening to headphones at a construction-type job. It made it seem, you know, more real. Protect ya neck.
