I said I thought this sounded like the perfect way to walk. The truth was I had no idea what he was talking about. If you stop and think about it, it’s no way to walk at all.

Radiohead Rarity of the Day

“True Love Waits” - Radiohead

Some of my favorite Radiohead songs have never been on an actual album—this definitely being one of them. “True Love Waits” has been expected to be on their “next” album since before In Rainbows was released. I’m definitely hoping to hear it on the next record.

Enjoy.

This song’s been around since the Amnesiac sessions. This version was recorded in 2003, I think. I feel like they’ll never put it on an album because it’s so straightforward. It might appear in some skewed fashion, but it won’t sound like this.

They didn’t put it on an album, but they did put it on an official release. Along with an unobfuscated Like Spinning Plates.

I don’t think Radiohead favors the complicated expression of the simple idea. I think they’re just in love with sound. They’re epically great because they’re also great songwriters.

The Futureheads - Man Ray

And where did your hands go?
When you thought I was your life?
I could see his hands.
They were touching you all night.
Touching you all night night night.

Touch each other black and white.

This is one of the truly underappreciated anti-love songs. Or something to do with avante-guard art. Either way—I’m in.

Sun Kill Moon - Tiny Cities Made of Ashes

File Under: Looks-good-on-paper,-but-sounds-horrible-in-your-ears.

The g.d. Indie Bible sez,

As far as 2005 projects with potential were concerned, this was an enormous letdown. Ex-Red House Painters frontman Mark Kozelek has been doing justice to the worst bands for some moons, so for him to tackle one of my all-time favorites seemed a fairly promising prospect. Oh, what a fool I was. It made me wonder: If I was like a maniac Yes or AC/DC fan, would I just think he was a huge asshole? Either way, this track was a slaughterhouse and poor Isaac Brock just had to sit back and take it like a dude. It’s a long drive, indeed, and there’s lols for miles.
